Contrast resolution in ultrasound diagnostic 01

Contrast resolution of sonograms has many aspects. This video demonstrates the value of the depth selective gain adjustment, the so called TGC (Time Gain Compensation) or DGC (Depth Gain Compensation). With the correkt TGC adjustment bloodflow in the jugular vein can be visualised with B-Mode.

Automatic image adjustments are not able to recognise the structures imaged, nor do they know the exposing preferences of the examiner.

The TGC is an important tool getting to the right diagnosis, as demonstrated in this video.

Contrast resolution in ultrasound diagnostic 02

Contrast resolution of sonograms has many aspects. Correct adjustments of the TGC (Time Gain Compensation) or DGC (Depth Gain Compensation) allows to visualise the blood flow in the jugular vein with the B-Mode. In this example the laminar flow profile is visible on the left as well as the vein valve and the turbulent flow behind the valve on the right.

The TGC is an important tool create better images for better diagnosis.
